For nearly 20 years I have had the enormous privilege of working with children in both private practice and in a school for children with special needs. While encouraging each child’s unique strengths, I help work through such struggles as feelings of insecurity, managing anger, developing self-confidence, and navigating relationships with family, friends, and teachers. I have extensive experience working with children with language-based learning challenges, attentional difficulties, and autism spectrum symptoms. I aim to provide an atmosphere of warmth, attunement, and empathy. Building a trusting alliance is always my first step.

Play is at the heart of my work with young children, providing a natural and joyful entry into communication while creating opportunities for self-expression and problem-solving. We might also create art, read books, talk. I see behavior as communication. We work together to uncover meaning, put words to feelings, and explore adaptive coping tools.

Seeking a therapist for one’s child is never an easy process. I see myself as a collaborator who will strive to truly understand you as well as your child so we can, together, nurture your child’s social/emotional development toward common goals.
