In a time of so many losses and changes in stability, transitions are coming faster and demand increased awareness and understanding of our lifelong survival patterns. It takes courage and patience to be with grief, respond to and integrate loss, and then go beyond to be alive and thrive.
In my approach I draw from many perspectives, including psychodynamic, humanistic, and transpersonal. I believe that physical and emotional safety and connection within a therapeutic relationship is a catalyst for change. In a session I will be curious, reflect and validate your internal life and external experience, notice whatever might be happening between us in the moment, and encourage self-exploration. Sessions are holistic, and we can collaborate on how to approach your treatment based on your needs. I offer space to support you with empathy and be with you as you feel, tolerate, and move through old feelings, while keeping your present bodily experience in mind. I can also help provide evidence-based techniques/practices as needed to relieve acute symptoms of anxiety, depression, and other conditions.
I am currently a Mental Health Counseling graduate student at Hunter College, with many years of experience as a special education nursery school teacher and facilitator of social-emotional work with children, teachers, and families throughout New York City. I graduated with a BA in English from Barnard College, and an MS.Ed. in Infant and Family Development and Early Intervention/Early Childhood Education from Bank Street College. I’ve also been a hospice volunteer, and completed courses on grief counseling and end-of-life doula work, trauma healing, cultural humility, working with shame, Internal Family Systems (IFS), treatment strategies for habits and addictions, and the potentials of using psychedelics in therapy.
I consider it a precious obligation to support people trying to negotiate the particular traumas, burdens, and intricacies of life within the world of late-stage capitalism. It would be an honor to be in connection and bear witness to your process.
